Met and visited with illustrator Kate Sherron at the con, who was doing drawings while talking about her webcomic. Couldn't resist the Anubis and Abernathy illustration — and then she was good enough to create this amazing pinup for the next volume of RBS.

One of the highlights of the Phoenix Comicon was getting to see Doc again — and, finally, got to spend an evening out with him and Joedy. They led us to Hanny's, a '40s-era department store remodeled into a hip, beautiful, restaurant where, though our scruffy convention-going group didn't quite match the atmosphere, we were made very welcome. And that Maple Hook Manhattan with a touch of maple syrup ....

Because of our location, the con was trying at times — but our neighbors John and Melissa, David, and Jolene helped make up for it with their good humor and company.
