Carla Speed McNeil's been a favorite here at Squirrel Central — and more importantly, a real inspiration. And as great as it's been to see her self-publishing be a success, it's even better to know that Finder will be published by Dark Horse. Looks like a new series, but also some big collected editions.

And, my photos from the Denver ComicFest are now at the 7000 BC Flickr photostream. Y'know, I promised myself that I'd try and get a few photos from the other side of the table; and I succeeded a couple times, but kinda forgot to get a picture of just about anything not in the immediate area.

An awesome time at the Denver ComicFest last weekend, still gathering my stuff for a post or two — but Anginet's already posted her photos — click on "Proofs" at the home page.

Ha! And I was the first — evar — to request a Batwoman drawing from Amy Hadley. Don't think she quite expected it, but was a great sport — here it is.

Batwoman's back on! OK, so Rucka's still out, but artist J.H. Williams will be taking on some of the scripting for the new series. And helping out with the art will be Amy Reeder Hadley …

who will be a guest at Denver ComicFest this weekend. And we'll be there, too. (Didya see that segue?)

Letterheady has an amazing collection of letterhead, including a bunch with comic/nerd cred (such as this, this, and this). But you owe it to yourself to go through them all; as of now, only 16 pages and they load fast.

So, there is more Raised By Squirrels happening — some Squirrel Tales are in the works and the next issue is progressing. In the meantime, we contacted Andy Perez about contributing to the gallery for the next volume. And here's his take on Rose. I think you'll agree that he puts the pinup back in pinup.

It's that time of year — the Washington Post Peeps Diorama Contest. Note the homage to our little corner of the world with the O'Keeffe one, but be careful of the next if, like me, you're still waiting to see season 3 of Mad Men; just glanced at it, but spoiler alert, I suspect.

The one book in my pull box this week was Detective Comics; and, I think, this explains why it went the way it did. More and more, I'm convinced it was my favorite comic of last year, so I'm sorry to see Batwoman — and all the supporting characters — go. But if staying true to the stories Rucka needs to tell means more Queen and Country (even if in novel form)? Can't argue with that.
